After the relaunch of our club league matches last year, it
was great to see that everyone enjoyed the competition and comradery that the
matches provide, and even if some teams did not hit the mark on the course,
2022 provides everyone with a fresh challenge to see if their teams have what
it takes to win a championship flag.
Inter Club Leagues
Gents
With 5 Divisions, twenty-seven teams, including for the first
time in 2022, Greenhills Golf Clubs, a total of 120 matches between May and
July it is going to be a busy time for our clubs, but as ever, we are sure that
although matches will be competitive, they will be played in the spirit that ensures
lasting friendships continue to flourish.

Seniors
If 2021 showed us anything, it confirmed that seniors golf is
going from strength to strength and the seniors league matches were no
exception. Hard fought matches, great patter and renewed friendships was the
overriding report from our members after the Covid 19 hiatus in 2020. This year
will be no different, with twenty-six clubs taking part, including new boys,
Lisini 9, its sure to be exciting times ahead and all we ask is that you take
it easy at your age!

After a winter of emails and phone calls to all four corners of the county, LGA are delighted to publish our full events calendar for 2022, and once again our member clubs have stepped up to provide the Association with a magnificent variety of venues for our Championships across all levels of participation.
This year also sees the Association changing our normal charity commitment by choosing to partner up with Prostate Scotland, who we will promote through all our adult events in 2022. Sadly, prostate cancer is a disease that will impact upon far too many of our members as the years go by, so together, whilst enjoying our great game, we hope that all our members and clubs will work with LGA and raise much needed funds for the charity so that they can support those who need it the most. We will have lots of fun prizes and games throughout the year all under; “LGA 3 P’s”, “Pennies, not Putts or Pees!”, so dig deep, you may just help your pals!

County Championships
Seniors Golf
Our Seniors Championships will take place at Hamilton Golf Club on Monday 6th June, and if 2021 is anything to go by, entries will be extremely high, as will the standard of golf.
Youths Championships
After a year off, our Youth Championships return to Airdrie Golf Club. With the increase in junior golf over the last few years we are sure that competition will be fierce as some of our older juniors will fancy their chances against their older competitors
Gents
County Championships
Always a great host venue, our premier event for 2022 sees a long awaited return to Drumpellier Golf Club, the home club of our President Kenny McLean. With the cream of our golfers on show, will our current champion, East Kilbride’s Jack McMorris return from his studies in America to retain his title which he won in convincing fashion last year at Lanark, or will the current Scottish Order or Merit holder, Kirkhill’s Lewis Irvine get his hands on the trophy, who knows, but one things for sure, if your not in it, you can’t win it, so get your entries in as soon as it opens on 1st March
Drumpellier GC, always a popular venue for our championships
Handicap Championships
This year the event is open to non LGA members for the first time
After a fine event in 2021 at Easter Moffat, we have decided to host this event as an “Open” with entries being accepted from outside Lanarkshire members. This isn’t to say we don’t have enough quality golfers in Lanarkshire, far from it, but entries have been low over the past few years so with Torrance House Golf Club and South Lanarkshire Council being kind enough to host the event we want to make sure that as many golfers as possible can enjoys both the club and course.
Juniors
With over a 1000 junior members now registered with our clubs, this years events will once again provide an opportunity for all our juniors to enjoy the game, not just championships, although we do have some great events that combine to make our our Junior Order of Merit, but more of that later.
Boys Championships
With our current boys champion, Bothwell’s own Brodie Cunningham playing over his home course, we’re sure he’ll fancy his chances of retaining his crown, however with the current depth of talent within the junior ranks its safe to say his colleagues will be sure to push him all the way.
Boys Order of Merit
With 2021 seeing our junior stars back in competition, and a full winter of practice behind them, 2022 season is nearly here and again in partnership with our member clubs, we are delighted to present of Junior Order of Merit events calendar.
All LGA events can be entered via the Scottish Golf LGA Members APP, and our member club events directly with the host club.
